Investigators “will incorporate attempts to purchase restricted items according to the state’s SNAP Food Restriction policy, beginning 90 days after the implementation date,” the USDA said

Advocates for the LGBTQ+ community say the new limits on the food assistance program, SNAP, may make it especially difficult for many LGBTQ people battling food insecurity.
In five states, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) users are now restricted from buying certain foods deemed to be unhealthy.
Underpayments are less frequent, with most states underpaying only 1% or 2% of the time. The most underpayments were in Maryland (4.8%), D.C. (3.8%) and New Hampshire (3%). See the error rates for every state in the interactive map below.
